The house mouse is dusty grey in color with a size in between 2.5 to 4 inches in length. It nests in the cluttered spaces such as closets, garages and base voids behind appliances and cabinets. They eat mostly cereals, grains, meats and seeds. The street rat also known as the Norwegian rat is greyish brown in color, that is why its sometimes also called as a Brown rat.It can grow up to 10 inches, its average length being 7 inches. It resides in burrows in soil, pipelines, sewers, basements and mostly the lower parts of the buildings. They savour on seeds, shrimps, meat, cockroaches, fruits, cereals, and grains. The roof rats are basically dark brown or black in color and grow up to 10 inches long. They nest in attics, trees, false ceilings, and roofs.Basically they nest in all the upper portions of the buildings. They basically feed on fruits, berries, vegetables, meats and eggs.
Fecal pallets are the most common signs of a rodent invasion in your house.Even a small population of mice can produce thousands of fecal droplets in cracks, crevices, etc.Fresh feces are dark in color and soft in texture but loose their color and harden on about 3 days time.Runways are the most effective way of transport for the rodents. Some of the other pathways for rodent travel include electrical cables, pipes, tree branches and ceiling frames..You can sometimes find oil or grease marks along the runway which can give you a signal as to where the rodents are heading.During their travel a mouse is capable of depositing around 3000 droplets of feces in their pathway in 24 hours.
